I'm looking to book a holiday and want to bring my Manfrotto along.
Is the tripod considered as a separate bag that has to be paid for and put underneath the plane?
Thanks
Michael

I took a tripod over to the UK four or so years back (work, not astronomy related) with Ryan Air - it had to go in the hold. Though in fairness, it was a tripod with spiked feet and they reckoned it was "too dangerous" to go in the cabin. They reckoned I could wipe out the crew and passengers by impaling them... All 148 of them...
Have a look at this (Irish) site. I'd say a tripod would be classified as a "tradesmans tools". But you could check with the airline. They must get plenty of tripods...
