Think I'll take the mirror out then I can safely sand blast it without the risk of the sand getting stuck in the delicate parts of the tube assembly.

Yea, I've done it before also.
It's amazing how clean the mirror can look after using the powerwasher....

Yea sounds like a plan.
Make sure you are wearing your safety googles, rubber gloves, steel toe-capped boots and hi-vis vest for this delicate operation...

I found that those green cleaning pads (for doing the dishes) were great for getting the stubborn stains off. And a paint stripping gun got it all dried off pronto.

Is this not too delicate an operation for a power washer. I read somewhere to use an angle grinder with a real fine disc on it.

haha, you're all nuts, sure everyone knows that you must coat the mirror in wd40 or 3in1 oil if you have it, to give it a protective layer so the oxygen in the air wont oxydize the coatings.

Even better Dave - after spraying on the WD40, I wrap the whole thing in clingfilm - ain't no oxygen getting in there to corrode the tin-foil. Did I mention the tin-foil before?
