Anyone using a canon 7d for astro photography? I am looking to upgrade from my 450d. I believe the noise at high ISO is not that great but I presume it is better than the 450d. I would like the use the camera for daytime shots also. They have come down in price quite a bit recently.

Yup am a 7D'er, here is a link to a couple of albums of astro shots taken with it:

Album1
Album2

These photos have been edited and in Adobe Lightroom to take away a bit of noise and some colour casts of light pollution.

I haven't had it attached to a telescope as yet.

This is going to be my next camera. I was holding off for the price to drop a little. Best i can see it for is 1250 in the Airport. Saw it for 1000 on a few websites that look a bit weird.

The price 'might' drop a bit when the 6D is released in December.

The problem with buying from a website is the hassle if anything goes wrong... its a big gamble to take.. not to mention if you are buying from Hong Kong its like Russian Roulette not only to get the camera but to get stung (even though legal..) for VAT and duties etc..

I would suggest to ask the usual shops for their best price, and since the 7D is a 'step up' maybe you want to get a fancy new lens with it so they might knock off a few bob more...

Just read the hands on review of the 6D, wow there is not much there to tempt me to spend even more. full frame but a loss of 100% view finder, and just slightly more pixels. It looks like the 6d will crach in at about 1800 to 2000 euros. so that might push teh 7d back to closer to the 1000 mark, which would be nice!

Even for everyday use without IR filter I think it's a good one.Shame that so far even on eBay you can order only from Hon Kong.
