a higher stand for a dob was created by astroman145
hi everyone i,m looking to pick a brain or two .i recently got a skywatcher 200p dob and i really love it the views are brilliant and its so easy to set up but one drawback is you need to be very flexible to view espically the finderscope and then back to the eyepiece but i,m going to invest in a right angled finderscope to remedy that problem.one idea i,ve had is to raise the dob higher and have it nearer my height and and have less bending over .
i was wondering if any of ye have had similar problems and what solutions ye came up with .

Howdy, when using a 200mm dob I ended up putting it on one of those plastic bottle crates that pubs and supermarkets use. Raises the scope 4 or 5 inches. Dead handy, light, sturdy and free :)

I'd try out a right angled finder if you can before you buy one.
People tend to either like them or lothe them.

Like Trevor says above, I'd use a box of some sorts to raise the height of the scope.

thanks for the suggestions i,m thinking of the box route meself or maybe a round base with a few holes to put the legs of the base into to keep it steady and then three legs at an angle. i seen a special base on an website in america that is triangular in shape and has adjustable legs for levelling it i think it was 89 dollars .i wonder why no one on this side of the water does,nt do them .a well i.ll just have to get me saw sharpened and plenty of elbow grease .thanks again
