Dave - how's the observatory coming on? I'm about to embark on the long tedious task in the next month or so...
I think the idea of the UPS, particularly in an observatory setting, sounds like a good idea. I actually have a power supply to the shed so I could even plug it in and use it as intended - we get a good few power cuts here due to a lot of construction nearby!
I'll do the research, as they say.
Cheers

ps - was in Galway at the weekend - fab skies but the ETX70 went haywire and I couldn't image

"long and tedious" pretty much well describes it.
I'm supposed to have it in the next 3 weeks or so, we'll see.!
What did the etx do? were the batteries low??

Good luck - you must post up piccies when done.
Batteries in the ETX ran out then I replaced them but it went mad after that. I set it up in the home position then did a two star align starting with Betelgeuse - it slewed up to the Zenith and then some! I just had to switch it off to avoid any damage to the Nagler
I tried two more time but no joy. I took it back inside, switched off, took batts out, put them back in and tried again - it worked OK then. But it was too late to start observing again...
Oh well. It'll work just fine on the 1200...!
Don;t forget those piccies now.
Cheers
