Astronomers say it could be the first meteor seen from the surface of another world, or a redundant orbiting spacecraft sent to Mars 30 years ago."
The image in the BBC article is too jpeg'd to make any analysis of.

But seriously, what are nasa doing pointing these cameras at the skies on Mars?, are the operators getting bored of photographing nearby rocks or something
