it seems a long time but i remember this launch, shame it never lived up to its promise.

You're right it doesn't seem that long, though I was only 3 when it happened!

Remember (well, you may not!) when on the 3rd flight, they left the external tank the rust coloured primer, because the lack of white paint saved half a tonne in weight!

'Tis also the 45th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's space flight. Definitely don't remember that one!

I always felt that the white tank made the shuttle look alot more impressive!
The red tank gave it that unfinished look.
