ladies and gents,
this is a perfect example of why NASA will never get to mars, because they keep reinventing the wheel each time. surely they should also apply this to spacecraft as well, as they say if it ain't broke don't fix it. reusing software code, now there is a stunning concept.

I disagree,
This is standard practice in all industries. A review of what code can be re-used/adapted to suit new applications is good practice. Without the review, older code being used for a new app, could be very detrimental. Just because the code worked in the first instance doesn't mean it's going to be the best strategy in a new environment, or even applicable.
