VSE costs climbing? was created by BrianOHalloran
From NASA Watch:
Editor's note: Word has it that internal studies done by/for Scott Pace's PA&E office show a growth in projected costs to complete the CEV program - by as much as $10-15 billion. In addition, individual lunar missions using one CEV, CLV, CaLV, LSAM, LSAS, etc. are now estimated to cost $5 Billion each. By comparison, Space Shuttle missions cost $0.5 billion each.
If this is indeed the case, you're looking at the CEV program being killed stone-dead in Congress, and rightly so. Typical of NASA being unable to stick to a cost estimate - only this time, the whole manned program is on the chopping block as a result of poor planning on the financial and technical sides.

Again, it starts another interesting debate, or one of many, such as the apparent cost on human exploration, is it really necessary, and why isn't there less money for war and defense and more for space and science.
I'm not even going to get into it right now...
