Spitzer and Hubble Create Colorful Masterpiece

A new image from NASA's Spitzer and Hubble Space Telescopes looks more
like an
abstract painting than a cosmic snapshot. The masterpiece shows the
Orion nebula in an
explosion of infrared, ultraviolet and visible-light colors. It was
"painted" by hundreds of
baby stars on a canvas of gas and dust, with intense ultraviolet light
and strong stellar
winds as brushes.

Hi Deirdre,

Seems that the address you give is not valid any more. Anyway this one seems to work;

I got this one from Dave Grennan's link above. It's got the higher resolution versios at the bottom of the page, including the full 51 meg JPeg that he directly provided. I'll snatch it tomorrow when I'm at school. This is the place where I've got a bunch of hi-res images in the 50 to 60 meg range. They had one of the LMC that was just eye-popping. 13,250 pixels square. Only covered about a third of the galaxy, but the Tarantula was obvious at the side. Also had lots of red emission nebulae. At the same time, you could see indifidual stars, identifying many by color.

Hmmm. They say they have the full original image at 51 megs. Yet the link for it is missing. They did have a much smaller version that is only 4.57 megs and 6,000 pixels square.
