Heavens Above have a section about it including predictions for when you can see it etc for your location.

but what a way to go.
+ 12"LX200, MK67, Meade2045, 4"refractor

Is it not better to dump this thing into the atmosphere rather then let it endlessly spin around the planet as space debris ?

The way the Americans (Bush admin) look at it.
Yes (if it doesn't burn up over North America.)
No (if It Might burn up over North America.)
And the no option equals them blasting it apart.
They are basically concerned that if it does re-enter
and some of it 'survives' the trip that there is a lot of
toxic stuff on board.
Me personally...
I don't see how any harmful material could survive re-entry.
Then again,
Who the fudge know what the hell the US military have up there?!

I spotted it this morning (1st Feb 08) at 06:50 UT above Cassiopeia, it was about as bright as Polaris.
