I agree also. I think European system will be more accurate than the US system.

The problem there of course is that the "enemy", whoever they may be, will simply use the European system instead of the American one. Will the EU throw their system out of kilter in time of war or not?
Are we actually solving a problem here or creating another one?

Have to agree that a system not controlled by the US military is better.
Like Phil I had the same GPS error while working in Africa when the Gulf War kicked off. Africa is not a place you want to have a 2 kilometre location error especially when you have no maps.

Both. The EU originally was to use the same frequency as the US one. This was to enable better selection of all satellites and/or so the US could not jam it without jamming their own. Now that the frequencies are different the US (or any other country with the tech) can locally block the Galileo signals.
