I seriously didnt know that out of all the Mars missions that this one is only the 3rd one to land successfully.

I know the Beagle was a failure.

Is this a 9 month mission or a nine year mission? I think the media is confusing this. I have heard it is a 9 month mission and a 9 yr mission.

I'm thinking it is a 9 month mission.

It took roughly 9 months to get there.

Yeah but how long will it be sending back data?

I have heard numbers of 90 days,9 months and 9 yrs.

I think the media coverage of this mission is confusing itself.

I dont think NASA would spend so much on a 90 day mission nor do i think any probe would send back data for 9 yrs.

I think the life expectancy of this probe is in the best case 9 months.

The damn media is reporting it as 90 days or 9 months or 9 years.

Its pretty damn exciting to see images of a part of Mars that we have never seen before.

Imagine how amazing it must feel for the people who built this probe and others before it to have YOUR work (something you have physically touched) to land on any celestial body.

At least with this mission of the polar cap of Mars...............we may finally get some kind of answers to the ultimate question.
