Soyuz was developed from the Semyorka ICBM, which _I think_ was the basis for the Chinese Dongfeng ICMB's. Soyuz evolved out of Semyorka and Chang Zheng from Dongfeng. I don't think it even looks that close to Soyuz tbh; the cone shaped boosters on Soyuz make it one of the most distinctive rockets in use. But as a BMW and Merc look similar, if you want to launch 9 tonnes of a satellite into orbit and you choose to use a rocket its not surprising that they all basically look the same; satellite at the top, main engines & booster engines if its heavy.
