Heres a site which supports image capture using a webcam on Linux, Looks good for linux users.

bootable cd? not the most practical thing is it...
You need video4linux compiled into your kernel which most recent distributions will have anyway.
3demi.net/astro/qastrocam/doc/ will grab the frames.
www.gimp.org will process the final image
Theres nothing decent yet for stacking images, so your best bet is to try to run registax/iris under the windows emulator, wine, www.winehq.com .

Hi Albert,
Bootable CD is not the best, but hey I dont use linux/Unix anymore so I just thought I'd throw this up for anyone who might need it.
I used to hate windows until I started using XP pro, much more reliable (at least for me).
