Hi folks,
This maybe old news to some of you expert DSO people, however, for the benefit of newbees like myself..................
I can across this nifty piece of FREEWARE called Deep Sky Stacker, which will import, align and stack the Camera RAW files from the Canon 350d, and does a pretty good job. Available at.... deepskystacker.free.fr/english/index.html
After, going through the painful process of aligning and stacking manually in photoshop, I decided to try it out on my very first sequence of DSO images taken last February with the 350d.
This little gem of software was capable of stacking and aligning about 10 RAW images, in roughly 5 minutes... with the following result:
Scope: Meade LXD75 6 inch Newt c/w 2x Orion Shorty Barlow. Camera: Canon 350d. 2 x 15 & 20 secs, plus 3 x 25 &30 secs exposures
This is a cropped version of M13 put through this software:
Scope: Meade LXD75 6 inch Newt . Camera: Canon 350d. at prime focus... 2 x 15 ,20, 25, 30 & 40secs exposures

Hi
Deep sky stacker is the business. Use it all the time, just wish it combined the LRGB then I wouldnt have to delve into the world of IRIS
Aparently the next version will include an ability to stack comet images too.

This is an amazing free piece of software, I own Image Plus which cost a fair few pennies and DS Stacker does just as well but without many hassles.
