connecting etx70 to a laptop was created by SeanOSullivan
Hello all,
I have question that I hope you won't mind answering. What kind of connection would I have to use to be able to control the etx 70 with my laptop, I bought starry night pro from England after someone recommended it on the site and what an excellent price it was. I presumed it would be a simple phone cable that would allow me to make a connection, but no joy. Any ideas??????
Cheers

Dont plug the scope directly inot the ETX70, this work for all meade scopes except this one.
You'll need to buy the cable from a astro shop (scopetronix for example), the cable has a Serial/I2C circuit in it, unfortunately thi is that is needed.
www.scopetronix.com/
and click on ETX 60/70 on the lower left.

Dave - did you ever wonder why your astrophotos always came out pink?
And Sean, just to keep this on topic, if you have the cable, you can update the Autostar handset - so you're getting a bit more functionality than just controlling the scope through SNP.
