One tip for you
When you draw it out on paper......forget what you have drawn!!!
I am happy enough with it, there's a few things I would have done differently or will do differently if I ever build another one, but this one works well for me

Its the roof design and how big of a pier id need that's stumping me.
the walls and floor I would use standard sizes so I would not have to cut too much

Congrats on the observatory.
They really are a great aid to the hobby.
I initially had a ROR observatory and later upgraded to a dome.
A few questions, the answers of which may be beneficial to others here:
1. Why not go with a roll-off roof?
2. How did you weather seal the apex of the roof?
3. How does the roof remain supported on a windy night's observing?
