It is a very clear presentation. I was a fan of his articles in Astronomy magazine.
I have used dithering with a CCD with good results. Its been a while since I have used a DSLR for wide field but this would encourage me to have another go and process with Adobe Raw before stacking.

Camera Raw processing definitely works. The version on Photoshop CC is brilliant. It saves a lot of time trying to remove aberrations and noise from the stacked TIFF. In wide field imaging with a DSLR the frames are always a few pixels out due to polar alignment misalignment (Polarie etc..) so it is slightly dithered.
