Hello all from down under.

The clouds finally parted for a few hours and I was able to set up my Astrotrac.
I could only get 30s exposures as I couldn't get the alignment correct.

Here's Crux between the trees and the Magellanic clouds. Single 30s shots from the driveway.

Seanie: If IFAS has any cash left over from the sales of calendars can we put it in a fund to buy the Southern Hemisphere a pole star?

Happy Christmas & New Year all,

Michael.

Great shots of the clouds Michael, where did you get the shots from as the skies look pretty clear of light pollution?

Paul

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Hi Paul,

The shots were taken from Cape Patterson which is on the coats 140 Km east of Melbourne.
I was facing South looking over the Southern Ocean so the only light pollution is from Tasmania and Antarctica.

I've been clouded out in the mean-time and now the Moon is getting in the way :-(

Michael.
