I hope to get into wide field and attempt something like this over the next 12 months. Santa gave me a Rokinon F 2.8, 14mm lens which I will mount on my modified Canon 1000D. Clear skies and suitable sites are all that I need now for a bit of practice.

The Rokinon lens is supposed to be very sharp. Look forward to seeing some images from it.

Awesome shot John, nice view of the north american nebula also, did any of your shots capture the veil nebula ?

The 11-16mm lens is too wide to capture the veil. I took some images with a 50mm lens but unfortunately not in the veil region. I'll have another look - I keep all my frames-even the bad ones !
