Valerie and I have just come in from observing Comet Lovejoy (Saturday 10/01/15). It is our first comet since Comet Lulin in 2011. It was about 1 degree south of Nu Tauri. It does have quite a bright nucleus and plenty of haze around it.
The clouds have rolled in unexpectedly. Still I am very happy to find this famous comet.
Aubrey.

Hi
This bright comet is a nice object with a central condensation. On Christmas evening I made it mag 5.6 and last night (Jan 9-10 2015) mag 4.1.
I also imaged it last night. There was city skyglow in that direction.

Just saw it earlier tonight (Sat. 10thJan) Nice in binoculars. Couldnt see much of a tail but the coma was quite large.
Got a couple of 30exposure tripod photos but the clouds rolled in before I could get a good one.

Thank you, John, for your image of Comet Lovejoy. We are enjoying looking at it as we turn on our PC. We have it set as desktop background. Lovely coma too.
By the way, I have sent you an email to you personally about a completely different matter. Please check when you can.
Thank you, John, for all you do.
Aubrey.
