Just a reprocess of some old data. Taken with a modified Canon 450D on a Skywatcher ED80. 12 180sec exposures plus some 15 sec exposures for the core. No darks or flats for this one.

It has been noted before on this site: it is always good to keep data. Reprocessing old data at times throws up some lovely shots. Orion Nebula is one of the easiest to find and shoot but one of the hardest to process because of the high dynamic range (HDR) - but a good job done here bringing out the core.....looks great.

Yes definitely Brendan, totally agree.....never delete old data. Besides improving the image with better processing techniques, it can also be added to new data to improve signal to noise ratio.

Looks great.
One of my favourite objects. No matter how you often you process M42 you can always make it look unique or bring out some new feature.

Thanks John. I had another go today to see how much background nebula I could bring out and ended up bringing it past breaking point. A bit over processed and noisy, but not bad for an old 450D with only 36min of data.
