Jupiter double transit. was created by jmckeon
Io and Ganymede made a transit of Jupiter on March 16th. Conditions were good enough to capture most of it. This is a time-lapse made from 207 processed captures. Equipment used was:
Celestron C11 with an cgem dx mount.
ASI120mm camera
Astronomic IR-pass 742nm filter. This was used to make the best of variable seeing.
55 second captures were made at 27fps continuously for over 3 hours. I limited the Region of Interest as much as possible around Jupiter to cut down on file size. Each capture was stacked in Auttostakkert with the best 570 frames used. Wavelet sharpening was done in Registax 6.
Each stacked and processed image was then imported into Photoshop as layers to create an animated gif.
