Oh that's tough going. I'm incredibly lucky to live in East Cork, with Bortle 4 sky. I do have major issues in certain directions with public lighting as i'm in a housing estate. The neighbors often leave their lights on too but i can't complain given the wonderful conditions i have to the East and straight above.
