Blue Jupiter and lucky imaging of M42 was created by Neil40
Hi everyone. I took a couple of images a few nights ago. A bluish
Jupiter with Europa to the upper left and Io the the right. And my first look at a DSO with a planetary camera! Details.
Cpc 1100
Zwo 385mc
20% of 4000 frames of Jupiter approx.
Live stacking of a part of M42. 115 frames.
Processed in registax
I've never used Deep sky Stacker before. I was so surprised how bright M42 was on the computer screen. It is a little over processed but not bad for a very first time.

These are great images, Neil.
Could remind me which way is north?
Jupiter has many belts right now for sure.
Clear skies to you from Aubrey.

Hi Aubrey, thank you for that. North is upward. It is quite hard to tell given the activity on Jupiter at the moment. Because I am using a cpc with the camera I get confused myself! However the position of Europa to the upper left has finally given me a concrete answer.
Maybe one day the Great Red Spot will show itself. Anytime I image Jupiter the GRS is on the other side of the planet.
Thursday will be my day though. I can feel it. . Thank you again for your nice comment.

Nice images Neil!
The lads here told me about this webpage...very handy to know when Jupiter's GRS is visible. You might already know about it...just in case you don't here it is:

Clear skies,

Cheers Darren. Yea I had a look at that site and strange you should mention it as I looked it up last night and took about 10 videos of Jupiter. Right at this moment I am stacking one! (the seeing was very bad. I've no idea why, but Jupiter looked like was was barely above the horizon it was so distorted. It was like a bowl of jelly). Every time I have imaged Jupiter I have missed the GRS. But lets hope this stacked video has it. It should according to that site but ill see. I shall post what I get. It will not be great. Mainly because of the jelly Jupiter part. Cheers again.

Hi Neil,
Glad you've used that website and I'm sure you'll have captured the GRS...then again with having to contend with atmospheric distortion it might end up being the Great Red Smudge : )
Clear skies,
Darren.
