fulll colour layered sensor array

Hi,

Over dinner at COSMOS I was chatting to Dave Lillis about the future of CCD astronomy. One thing I mentioned was the possibility of CCD's operating more like colour film does. Rather than having an array like RGBR each pixel would be layered much like current films. Dave was quick to point out that we need transparent transistors for this!

or DSLRs.
Like anything else it'll take a while to become affordable.

Hey Guys, I've heard of this being mentioned before on the digital _astro forum, this was about a year ago, I've heard nothing since, but by the looks of this, would'nt it be fantastic to have this technology available within say five years, at an affordable price that is

Now this coupled with a DSLR, now that's an idea! If you don't mind Albert, I'll forward this to that group and see what's the response like, no harm in generating interest!
