I was worried when I first saw the title
I thought you were going to say that the slewing apo mount gave you a belt for landing it with a skylux

Actually Dave, I *did* walk into the counterweight shaft - end on. It was just at my eye height.

Luckily, all it hurt was my pride - Fiona saw it happen...

I'd hope that it wasn't peeved about carrying such a lightweight as teh Skylux...!

Cheers

Hi Keith - thanks!

I got the mount from Astro-Physics - after a wait of two years on the waiting list. Unfortunately, you can't just go and buy one of these mounts.

Funnily enough, I've actually been on the list for the small AP900 mount for even longer...

As for cost, well, you really don't want to know. A brand-new small car price would be about right... But I have to say that so far, its worth every cent. And I haven't even started on polar aligning and calibrating it yet.

The word on the streets is that with good polar alignment and periodic error correction, you can image with this mount unguided for 5 minutes. Though I did hear of someone who imaged unguided for nearer 30 minutes

M57 is definately on the cards - when we get a clear sky!

Cheers
