Scorpius Milkyway was created by Keith g
Hey All, I'm just back from a trip home this weekend shooting the Summer Milkyway with my 300D. Conditions were amazing last night, so black, no light pollution and transparency was about 8/10, it was so clear, visually I've rarely seem the milkyway this bright. This is a shot of the Scorpius region of the Milkyway, it turned out very well, I've done little processing on it, just slight alteration to levels in Photoshop, that's it! I'm trying to keep it as natural looking as possible, can't wait to get a scope around here, the neblosity and dark dust lanes are incredible even in Binoculars! Even this low resolution shot does'nt do this area justice - Here's the details:

Date: 8th May 2005
Location: Annestown Coast, Co.Waterford
Canon 300D, 50mm F1.8 II lens at f2.8
Exposure: Single 7 minute, ISO 400, Auto White Balance, RAW Mode

Hope you like it,
Keith..

Amazing!
the dust detail is like nothing I've ever seen in a shot taken from here, its like a shot you'd see some of the pros in the US get, especially considerinmg how close to the horison that part of the sky is!

Thats one for an astro mag somewhere!
