Hi All,
I had a quick look at the moon last night as it rose above the horison, gosh was it big,!
I decided to clean the dust off the camera and get a few pics of it.
I cought the well lit views of the 2 Cathedrals in Limerick, and yes I'm standing in the middle of the road and yes there does appear to be a car coming towards me
The things we do for this hobby.
Anyway, the exposure was 8 seconds at iso 100 with the camera zoomed fully in. If you look closely, you can make out some of the Saggitarius outline.
This is a low res image which was originally a 1.8 meg image.

Nice image Dave! I like the colours a lot! Can I ask, if you used a less time on the exposure, would you think you'd see detail on the Moon's surface? Its not a criticsm of over-exposure or anything, I just like to ask these questions so that I know for the future when I get me a digital gizmo photography thingy!

Thanks,
Seanie, as for detail of the moons surface, thats was not really the intention of this image.
I was going to copy and paste a quick exposure image of the moon in here that showed some detail, but it just didnt look right, so I went with whats here.
I'm also fond of the colours, the moon has an almost Sun quality about it.
You might want to turn your monitor brightness and contrast up full to see this properly.

Hi Keith,
This was taken just after moonrise, its not like it crossed the meridan at this "altitude".
Unfortunately, I just missed moonrise by a few minutes, I was not too pleased
I was looking forward to that real copper colour.
