I think I've got it!

Is this a sun Pillar?
This is my first clear evening since the 12th June and I'm hoping it continues into the night. I saw this sunset as I was out watering the horse and rest of my menagerie and wondered if at long last I had found my first sun Pillar.

Unfortunately that band of cloud never moved and I still haven't seen venus or mercury

Lovely shot Bill - very 'atmospheric'. It would be a great shot for a tourist magazine as long as you left the overhead cables in the pic

Thats a great first image of your first sun pillar Bill! By the way, I think that if it wasn't as cloudy, and had the sun been below the horizon (but only just), you'd have a much more prominent pillar too. I've captured a few of them before, and with thin cloud, it makes a great photo! So, having cloud is not all bad!
