Carrying around my 20" obsession is going to kill me,
but what a way to go.
+ 12"LX200, MK67, Meade2045, 4"refractor

I agree, a totally stupid design.
Luckily the bigger LX series doesnt suffer from this to the same extent.
I'm eventiually going to make up a simple wooden wedge for the etx.

Seanie - my ETX70 is actually currently piggybacked on the C8! All mounted on the you-know-what....
I had a go a making a wooden wedge for the ETX70 before cannabalising the whole thing. It was actually not that hard. Its still kicking around if you want it but I know it needs just a little (half an hour) more work.
By the way - if anyone wants the ETX70 minus the OTA (for spares or exotic projects etc), let me know.

Seanie - you can have it. Spare screws included to attach the wedge to the ETX tripod. I'll show you the extra work you need to do which as I said is minimal - you'll probably just need a needle file and 30 minutes.
