Lunar Shot was created by dmcdona
Since it was cloudy last night, I stitched together a mosaic of ten lunar images taken on Sunday night (10/07).

WOW ... an impressive piece of work! Must have taken ages to get it so seemlessly joined.

Fairly easy actually Bart - a lot easier than I expected - about an hour.

I guess a full moon would take a lot more work

I was always handy with a needle and thread - ever see Texas Chainsaw Massacre? :D

Keith - I was surpised at how easy. I know there are astro progs out there that'll do it for you (Registar springs to mind) but I just used photoshop. Each image is a seperate layer which is then aligned just by eye. Then each layer is 'tweaked' to get the balance right.

For this shot, each image was no wider than the widest part of the moon - so they only needed to be stitched either at the top or bottom. An 'older' (larger) moon would take more time I guess.

All in all, I was very surprised at how little time it took. Give it a whirl!

Cheers

Dave
