Deep Sagittarius

Well folks, hope you don't mind me posting too much

Here's a shot of Sagittarius taking in many Messier clusters and nebulae near the Galactic centre, this one was my prime target from last weekend, I think it came out well. Since it shows M8 the lagoon nebula, I tried not to over expose this nebula and I think i've succeded I can see the dark dust lanes withn the nebula which is a great visual sight in the scope. You can also see the star cluster NGC 6820 within it just to the left. I found the 85mm lens to be great on showing the 'real' colour of the stars, mimicking that as what you would see through a pair of binoculars.

There's loads here. The small sagittarius starcloud M24, Star Clusters M21,18, 23 25 and NGC 6645, Globulars M22 &M28, also Nebulae M17, 20, 8, and a few dark nebulae. Again, just very small adjustments to levels in ps7.

Exposure: Just 3 minutes at ISO 400

GReat image. The colours are really cool. Anyone know what the various deep sky objects are that you can see in this image?

I don't know too much about lenses; any chance you could explain about the Canon ef 85mm f1.8 lens at f2.8 you're using? What/how do you operate an f1.8 lens at f2.8?
