Here are my two latest images, the third, M51 was a disaster!
Mars is 50 images @ 100th sec. stacked in Autostar suite. DSI-C, LX90, 2X Barlow. The clouds beat me before I could get the 3X Barlow on.

Uranus is 50 images @ 1 sec. stacked in Autostar Suite, DSI-C, LX90, 2X Barlow. Could really have done with the exposure reduced.

Bill,

Both of these are commandable efforts! I have to sit down and get my first light with Mars for the current opposition. I am embarrassed to admit that I have yet to do any observing/imaging of Mars for this year?!

Bill, those are good efforts! I was looking at Mars and Uranus this weekend and last, they looked just like that in the scope.

Well Done,
Keith.

Well done Bill, thats a good effort. I dont know anything about Autostar suite, to say how well it does planetary stacking. However I suggest you download and try registax for planetary stuff. Registax does a fantastic job on planetary images.

Registax does a quality assessment of each image and doesnt include an image if its quality (because of seeing) doesnt make the cut. You can download registax free from;

registax.astronomy.net/

Your image is exactly what I could see through the scope last night. Next time get that 3x barlow in straight away!!

Keep it up Bill.

Thanks for all the comments on the Mars image. I think I'm begining to understand how the DSI works now. Basically, forget auto-expose, just expose manually. On reflection, this was my main problem with Saturn and Jupiter, I relied too much on auto and only gave slight adjustment manually in case I messed it up. Seems to me auto on the DSI is no where near as efficient as on a camera.
Dave G. the 3X is poised and ready to go, unfortunately I'm clouded out :cry:
