just dickied around with them again. split them into rgb in maxim dl and did max ent on the r channel (most detail). converted rgb image to lab in PS and used the max ent r channel as the new l channel with suprising results!

Amazing Dave, brilliant image!! What was the effective F ratio used? Looks like about F/30 to me!
