M57 - Another collaborative effort

Heres another collaboration between Jed Glover and myself.

M57 - The Ring Nebula



Details:

Location Raheny, Dublin.
11 September 2005 23:00UT
Celestron C9.25XLT @ F10
CG5GT mount autoguided with SC1 modified webcam and Guidedog V1.06
Canon 300D (Unmodified)
Parks Optical LPR filter
10 X 500secs

Processing was done by Jed Glover with Images Plus. All frames were dark frame subtracted and bias calibrated. I'm sure Jed will fill in further processing details.

Very nice image Dave, I like it. I do have one remark though - if you don't mind!

Should the central nebulosity really be so bright? I know it brings up more details such as more background stars during processing, but as I am used to seeing other M57 images where the nebulosity is fainter, which is the real interpretation of its real brightness?

Or, more simply, to probably just answer my question, is it down to preference either?

Again, another great image, I'm surprised the central star is not more prominent though, can you enhance that area abit more?

As Seanie mentioned its all down to personal preference.

Heres another example of the same image processed a little differently.
Mainly just slightly different contrast adjustment.

To me that looks more natural, the central star is there.
I hope you dont take this as criticism of your work as we're fully aware of the amount of sheer effort it takes to get anything close to what you got there.
Thats another notch on the belt.
