Free Astrphoto Software - ABE was created by Keith g
Hi all, I've just got this from another forum, There is a new FREE astrophoto (and normal photography) processing software called ABE - Automatic Background Extractor, that will remove any unwanted skyglow (light pollution) from your hard earned images with good results. Now I have'nt used it myself yet, but have downloaded it (1Mb) and it's english help and instruction manual.

From the website, it looks good
Anybody want to give it a try? I will this weekend?

Thanks for the tip-of Keith. I'll download it now and try it on a few of my old images.
Cheers!

OK, just tried it. Not exactly what I expected. Runs in MSDOS - believe it or not! Keeps the file size small I guess and allows it to run fast perhaps.
ANyway, once I figured got it worked, I tried it on one image. Basically, for the image I had at least, it made a kind of dark image which i was able to subtract from the original to get an improved image. I assumed it would churn out an improved image, but seems not - you need to subtract it from the original.
All in all, seems like a useful program.

looks like it might also help with mild vignetting also, worth downloading just to give it a try, although I'm not a fan of dos.
