Hi,
www.picturecode.com/
A friend told me about this piece of software (Noise Ninja) for removing noise from photos. From looking at some images it seems it can do a great job for regular photos shot at 1600 ISO.
Whether its any good for photography or not is an entirely different matter, but thought I'd let you all know in case anyone wants to experiment.
The demo is free, but crippled.
Cheers,
~Al

Al,
I use Imageonic Noiseware Professional with Photoshop. It's excellent. Works with Photoshop 7, CS & CS2, also Adobe Elements 2 & 3. Don't know if it works with the latest v.4.
Demo available at www.imagenomic.com/
