Canon 350D versus Nikon D50

Hi,
Anybody any experience or knowledge on either camera with a view to astro photography and general use.

Things like Mirror Lock Up, Noise(amount of and auto dark frame substraction), Cable Release (presumably electronic) and Ease of focusing.

I know there are better models like the Canon 20D, Canon 20Da and Nikon D70 but they are more expensive!

I have the 350D and find it great for general use. I havent yet delved into astrophotography with it, but will now that the nights are getting darker.
