Who wants a challenge? Webcam/DSI was created by Keith g
Ok, Can I present a challenge? This evening, I had my very first look at the 'Saturn' nebula in the constellation Aquarius, officially called NGC 7009, I've been meaning to look at this for ages, It's actually near M72 & M73, above Capricornus. It was so weird, it did look like a very turquise colour saturn, but intensely defined against the starry background. Light pollution did'nt help, I could'nt get anything out of high magnification - so I was wondering, would anybody like to try to image this one with a webcam/dsi etc :?:

It's great target, I'd love to see it up closer

How about it? Anyone?

Right here folks! Trying to avoid rockets and stuff...

I'm currently having a lash at M57 which is quite low to the North. NGC 7009 is even lower. I won;t be able to get through the Catherine Wheel haze, or the house across the road I'm afraid...

I'll try and get a shot next clear night if I can. That OK?

Cheers

Dave

Keith,
I captured this image of the saturn image last year, its not well focused but it does show the colour,.
This image was sitting in the corner of the hard drive, discarded because the focus wasn't sharp.

If I took a few more images, I'm sure the spikes on both sides would have been more prominent.
Taken with a 300D + 12" SCT.

Good shot all the same, that's roughly representative to what I saw last night, it's visually at mag 8, so it's not out of reach.

Dave Mc, no problem, I think it's a worthy shot :P
