hi all! I was out snapping a couple of nights ago and on greater examination, discovered a long line of about 23 stars in a line and it looks like their linked! I dont Know if you can zoom in on the photo but the line of stars is right under the big red arrow! Oh there are 2 satellites there aswell!(30 sec exposure,sony cybershot)

Now thats weird! The star with a tail looks likes like a bright meteor. Can you tell us me what direction your were pointing and at what time and date so i can check what what part of the sky your at

To me, the line of stars is a plane. A plane doesn't come up as a constant light across the sky light you would get with a satellite. Your two satellites look like just ordinary stars - the camera has quite clearly jumped during the exposure, look at the pier.

It was taken on the 1st of december at 17:55.i reckon i was facing North East, judging by heavens above as i knew the position of the plough!I really dont know anymore technical terms than that(im a complete amateur)!

Though the lights look very far spread out and is there not more than one light that flashes?

If you look at it full size, you can see there is more than one flashing light. It looks to be fairly high up as well for it to have only moved that far in 30 seconds so you might not see the lights too well - my 2 cents!
