Mars once again! was created by dave_lillis
Hi,
It was absolutely freezing last night, the condensation on the outside and inside of the observatory was frozen solid!, I dont know how the laptop didnt die.
Anyway, I just had to take another image of our red planet,

www.irishastronomy.org/user_resources/fi...80164-mars27_2B1.jpg

This is derived form stacking 700 frames in registax, I used the 3X cheapo barlow that came with the ETX 70, and what a barlow it is! the image through is not bad at all, there is a very faint green hue of the right hand side edge, I expected it to be much worse given its a acromat barlow sold with meades cheapest goto scope!.

You can just see hints of the polar cap at the top of the image, and features like Sirtys Major and Hellas.

One of the great things about looking and imaging the planets is that you get very familiar with the surface features and their names!.

Great image Dave. Brilliant detail from a small disc. It is really turning egg shaped as we leave it behind for another two years.

Well done Dave, this is one of the best shots I've seen of Mars at this late stage.
