Great images guys! But I'm a bit torn between which one I would award 1st place. My reasons being:
Michael's image looks oversharp, like he was about 150 miles up into space when he took it! And Mars appears small - nicely coloured, but small.
Daves image is too soft, but Mars is quite large for the same kind of scale (due to haze/fog perhaps??).
Obviously I can't offer any advice lads, so I'll just have to be content with the criticising part!
Seanie.

Seanie,
I think your analysis is bang on. My regret when I finished all the imaging and posted it up here was that Mars should be brighter. Technically, the same exposure time was used so it may be deemed to be technically & proportionally correct. Aesthetically however, I should have used a much longer exposure on Mars to try and replicate how it appears to the eye. Funny how the eye and the camera see differently.
Thanks for your feedback - very useful to us.

Canon 300D at prime focus of Skylux. Single exposure with Moon a little over exposed.

The eye and camera see differently alright! It's so hard to get the two looking
as natural as possible because of the difference in size between both objects and brightness.
Worthy efforts !

Excellent images guys, I wouldn't even like to choose a best one! It was a lovely sight alright seeing the two "planets" so close together.
