So, if I have an N11 and a DSLR and want to take 60+ sec exposures, the only ways of de-rotating images are:
1. field de-rotator
2. Polar wedge
:
I'm really just curious!
BTW - most of the biggest scopes in the world are fork mounted
Cheers

Unless somebody else knows of another way, thats the only way it will work,
You could also limit photography to areas of the sky where fields rotation is less noticable, but that doesnt solve the problem entirely and defeats the point IMHO.
Also alt-az scopes are further complicated by the fact that software guides in ra/dec and not alt/az. It can still be done but complicates things even further still. The st4 will figure this out for you (but for a price)

Cheers Dave - the reason I ask by the way is entirely genuine - the AOP. More of that in the coming weeks
I might grill you again and get the benefit of your expertise in this area if that's ok

Really glad to hear it Dave - all will be welcome but those with setups and experience like yourself will have a strong role to play...
