coruscations attending the whole length of the luminosity, giving to the phenomena the aspect of a wrathful messenger, and not that of a tranquil body pursuing a harmless course..comet of 1680

Beautiful image Dave.
Is that 2 white oval storms on the planet itself?

Just seen on the APOD that it is! I'm just doing further research to see when it started.

great image Dave.
I tried using the raw modified webcam but I ran into difficulties, can you describe how you capture and process using this camera?

sure goes like this
download wcrmac from the web
connect the w/c
save your original settings (macro)
Load any of the new macros - raw, modified color non raw or original macro
then you have 2 choices to aquire
Using progs like k3 iris etc you'll aquire a b/w raw img (avi) and then convert using registax or AVIRAW
or
Use astronsnap which converts on the fly so you get the color (debyered img on screen as you aquire.
Color chips have pattern scross them that has a G channel sandwitched betwen a R and B eg RGB BGR called a bayer pattern.
when converting to ordinary color (called debayering) youll be asked to select which pattern is on your chip hence you may see BGR RGB etc. You'll know you have the right one when the image has the correct looking color.
hope this helps let me know if you need anything else
