Essentials of Webcam Autoguiding. was created by DaveGrennan
This is an article, I came across written by Doug Anderson of shoestring astronomy. This does a very good job of explaining the basics of getting a webcam autoguiding system up and running.

I suggest anyone thinking of going down this route, give this a read.

Shoestring astronomy is a great site, I had a look at this stuff a while back, but I decided not to go down this route.

Well Darren,
I'd be up to building this stuff but I've no interest in doing so. In terms of autoguiding, I'm getting a st-4 autoguider. I'm working with the 300D for now, and I'll be removing the IR filter in april..
Once I'm happy I've got all I can from that camera, I'll probabaly sell it off and get a sbig camera, probabily a st-10, if at that stage the st-4 is no longer needed I can sell it off, there is an enormous market on astromart for that guider, so it should be easy. :)
I used unmodifed webcams (toucam) for autoguiding and it works but the main drawback is that you need a fairly guide bright star. I'm not going to modify my own toucam, I was planning to but now just couldn't be bothered.
