Partial Eclipse from Salthill was created by TrevorDurity
First attempt at solar imaging and was really lucky; my filter arrived yesterday. Just in time for a practice run.

7D at prime focus on the SW 127mm Mak.

Also lucky with the weather, the clouds stayed away for most of the eclipse.

Nice the way the sunspots show up. I haven't a clue why all but my most grossly overexposed images turned out purple though it could have been the white balance on the 7D. I guess I can change that in the RAW files.

Pity we have to wait so long for another eclipse

Cheers,

T

Some nice images Trevor. I wasn’t so luckily got stuck in a meeting that ran on. Had my telescope in the car all ready to go. 8)

Nuts! Sorry to hear that. I had to reschedule a meeting myself this morning. It had actually slipped my mind that I had set one up for the same time as the eclipse (D'OH).

Can't wait to see the images from Turkey!

Beautiful shots trevor! Salthill eh! Are you a part of galway astronomy club? I am and also live in salthill! Just love the sunspots!Unfortunately i couldnt view the partial ecllipse as i was in school! :x
But on monday i did get a talk from ray butler of NUIG on extrasolar planets! We were going to use the faulkes telescope but it was raining in hawaii! We were going to be the first people(the bish) to image an extrasolar planet using 'direct photometry'! Pity but a very interesting talk! Thanks ray if your watching!

Hi Matthew,

Was really lucky with the weather for once:D
New to this hobby so I haven't joined a club yet but I was in contact with Ronan and will probably pop along to the next club meeting. Might see you there. Good to see another Salthill man on the board!

So even Hawaii gets Irish weather once in a while

Thanks,
Trev
