Total Solar Eclipse from Greece was created by ayiomamitis
Dear Friends,

We were fortunate to have some very good skies for the total solar eclipse the other day and I was blessed with some very impressive views and photographs through my AP160.

The three photos I have processed so far are the following:

www.perseus.gr/Astro-Eclipses-2006-03-29.htm
www.perseus.gr/Astro-Eclipses-2006-03-29b.htm
www.perseus.gr/Astro-Eclipses-2006-03-29c.htm

This experience begs the question about 2008 (1 minute of totality) and/or 2009 (5.5 minutes of totality).

Clear skies!

Anthony.

Wow! Anthony, great work!
Are these taken through an apochromatic refractor?

Amazing pictures Anthony! Glad it worked out for you in Greece. I thought you had fallen off the face of the Earth, or succumbed to cloudy skies... we have been used to hearing from you sooner than 2.5 days after such an event!

Hi Seanie,

Thanks for the kind words. The reason for my delay is related to the very long ferry ride between Athens and the island of Kastelorizo. Due to the volume and weight of the equipment I took with me, I had no choice but to take the ferry ride which meant a 13-hr ride from Athens to Rhodes and a further 2.5 hrs from Rhodes to Kastelorizo (plus a three-hr wait between rides). Of course, the ends justify the means and intervenining pain (as usual).

Keith,

Yes, these were indeed taken through my AP160 EDF refractor. I was also fortunate to have one of these as NASA APOD yesterday as well as photo of the day on the Astronomy Magazine website. The online article by S&T related to the eclipse also has two of my photos. All around, a very nice response. :-)

Dave,

I also have a huge volume of photos to process. I am delighted with the first effort and these three results and I am greedily rubbing my hands in anticipation of equally great results from the rest.

Clear skies to all.

Anthony.
