A very peculiar looking prominence, imagine if that had been visible last week during the eclipse

That ones a keeper alright. Fabulous shapes!

Anyone know if the activity with sunspots and prominences over the last while is unusual during a solar minimum? Have we turned the corner yet? I know the new cycle is not due to start until at the end of this year (earliest), and possibly late next year (latest). All I've seen this year (in white light only -no prominences for me I'm afraid) has been the odd small sun spot, but since the end of March it seems to be getting a bit busier.
